MONEY, MONEY, MONEY, MUH-NAE: 4 Reasons Making Money Isn't as Important as What God has Called Y

You are a brave person.

Why would I start a post about money with reminding you that you are brave?

Because it is true.

At your core, you're a fighter.

We all are. But we each fight uniquely. We're fighters- because at our core we know we were made for more than just this world.

And so we're fighters, but we have this everyday thing that we have to deal with- making money. Providing. Having enough. Continuing to have enough. Having more than just enough so we can avoid having an uncomfortable feeling of dread and fear that we felt when we didn't have enough.

And instead of fighting for the things that matter more than that, we give way to the fear.

Very often, the root of striving to make money is fear.

And so day after day we let our need and fear of not having what we need wear down on us.

When what we should be more afraid of is that we'll let our fear about money crowd out the voice of God, who is showing us the way all along.

If we didn't need money to live, would we be doing what we are currently doing?

Would we know God with the same depth we know Him now? Or would we know Him more?

What decisions in the past have we based solely on money? Or what other desires did we trump with our need for money?

Do we really believe God will provide for us if we do what He asks us to do?

"Yes, but what if..."

Dang. Money stinks. We all feel it. If we didn't need it to live, that'd be great.

But it's there all the same. Now what do we do with it?

I hope this post can ease your soul a bit. There's a constant worry and fear that constantly comes with needing to make money and "provide for ourselves," but that thinking is in direct contrast with the heart of our God.

no. 1 - God made our hearts to be at rest in His presence.

Long before money existed, God was there. And He provided for His people without fail. He provided manna for His chosen people in the desert- food daily that came from unseen sources. It came from Him. We were made to rest and trust that OUR GOD WILL PROVIDE.

Not might.

Not maybe.

Not, "I hope He comes through."

WILL.

Our job is to follow Him and be in His presence and ask Him how He's going to come through, then watch and see what He does.

There is joy and rest in peace in knowing that you have God on your side in all situations. You don't have to stress and figure it out. Just talk with Him. Sit with Him. Ask Him what He's doing. Be with Him and get to know Him so well that you'll be able to talk to Him about every last worry.

There is rest in seeking His way about money rather than our own.

We are not our own providers.

He is.

no. 2 - We were not made for constant striving.

I don't know about you, but making money just for the sake of money makes me tired. Not just in the physical sense- it wears me out. It makes me feel less of who I really am. And then when I'm that tired and God does give me something that I feel made for, I hesitate. Because I'm feeling insecure, thinking that taking a step away from money might mean losing my security.

no. 3 - You are no more or less secure with money or without it.

God is our security. He is our strength and joy. He was your strength and your joy when you had money. And He will be your strength and your joy when you have less money than you did previously. And when you have more money when you did previously.

no. 4 - Money is not our ruler.

And it never will be.

Check out Matthew 6:24 - " "No one can serve two masters. Either you will hate the one and love the other, or you will be devoted to the one and despise the other. You cannot serve both God and money."

We have to choose which we're going to listen to. Does God get the final say? does He rule over us or does money? A ruler gets final say.

When it comes to doing our purpose or not, do we let money have the final say, or do we trust God enough to let Him make the decisions?

no. 5 - But fear might be (if you let it).

Greed might not be our motivation for making money, but fear might be.

So we come back to the reminder to be brave.

God is enough.

God is enough.

" But seek first his kingdom and his righteousness, and all these things will be given to you as well. " (Matthew 6:33)
