EVERYDAY POURFECTION / blueprint coffee

I sit in Blueprint Coffee on Delmar just about every day now. It's usually the place that I get the most work done and feel the most creative.

Kaldi's on DeMun Ave is home. Blueprint is becoming my place to go for fun and to be really creatively productive.

Right now as I work, Ryan Adams is playing loudly over the speakers, two sets of friends are meeting at the community table, Garrett is slinging spro on the espresso machine, and a really great pour is dripping through for a customer at the hand brew bar. This is a good place to be.

Besides having impressive taste in bathroom curtains, Blueprint does rustic-beautiful extremely well. Metal meets light-stained wood. White subway tiles provide contrast to the deep grey concrete floors, and every once in a while a pop of blue on the wall and the greenery in the corner catches your eye. If you're looking for a place with beautiful morning light and chill nighttime vibes, this is it.

Let's talk about the menu. First, coffee.

This isn't the place to get a cup of batch-brewed drip coffee. Blueprint roasts all of their own coffee. They started roasting in 2013, producing high-quality coffee and constantly improving that quality by fostering mutually beneficial relationships with their farmers. Producing and developing high-quality coffee comes with risks for farmers and importers, and Blueprint is more than willing to share in those risks in order to serve perfect pours to every customer.

That's right, they make every cup just for you. One by one.

On their roast menu right now:

La Esparanza, Guatemala

Kimel, PB, Papua New Guinea

Palestina, Colombia

and my personal favorite...

Tekton v6, Brazil + Nicaragua

You don't like coffee? (No shame.)

Pick from 9 hot teas, 3 iced teas, a specialty hot chocolate or chai, or the Sparkling Berry Shrub (sparkling water with simple syrup and a berry infused vinegar). Have the PB + J Swedish Pancakes, a brioche egg sandwich, or a lighter granola bowl. All the delectables are available until 2 p.m. so you've got plenty of time to sleep in, take a walk down Delmar, then hop on over to Blueprint for a late brunch or late lunch, depending on how liberally you slept in.

What about the neighborhood?

Blueprint is situated in the ever-growing Loop, right on Delmar, just a skip hop and jump away from a vinyl shop, Mission Taco Joint, several vintage stores, locally-owned Subterranean Books, and more places to wander and explore. Grab a cup of coffee, see a movie at the Tivoli Theatre or a show at the Pageant, and finish it off with some rolled and topped ice cream from the Snow Factory. Friday night complete.
